A few days after announcing that it would sell Navi miniMOTO in the United States, American Honda announced a pair of project bikes from MNNTHBX and Steady Garage to show their potential to the aftermarket.
The suggested retail price of these bikes is only $1,807. They are equipped with CVT gearboxes and interesting styling, making them perfect for novice riders. Powered by a 110cc carburetor four-stroke engine, it only requires a 0.9-gallon fuel tank due to its incredible 110.3 mpg (2.1 liters/100 km) fuel economy data.
Owned by the person who held the Barber Small Bore annual miniMOTO exhibition at Barber Motorsport Park in Birmingham, Alabama, few stores are as suitable for this kind of architecture as MNNTHBX.
The team immediately regarded Navi as the perfect car for racers, and therefore committed to sports design. The body is covered in red, white and blue, and the team also installed Ohlins shock absorbers on billet aluminum brackets.
Renthal low-position MX handlebars can adjust the posture of the bike, while Yoshimura carbon fiber exhaust pipes make the appearance more perfect. MNNTHBX purchased the largest tire they could find to connect to the 12-inch front wheel and the 10-inch rear wheel.
Finally, in order to truly make it the perfect pit bike, it also has two 6.5-inch Kicker speakers located between the rider's legs, as well as an amplifier and a controller integrated in the seat.
"Navi is already equipped with a storage box, so we considered how to reuse it," said Kevin Estep, co-owner of MNNTHBX. "We think if you are in the paddock, you always want some tunes, so we built a billet shell into the same space and integrated a Kicker sound system. It's really nice!"
The construction of this store in Irvingdale, California took a different direction. Manufacturers who have never made a miniMOTO before say that they have undergone a lot of trial and error.
"A lot of the inspiration came from Ruckus and Grom, so we modified some of the existing parts of these models to work with Navi," said co-owner Kevin Dunn. "The style we adopted is similar to what we call'street Grom'-low profile and wide front wheels."
At the back, there is a larger, wider rear wheel, allowing them to fit lower profile tires. Also at the back, Vance and Hines custom-made stainless steel exhaust pipes add a bit of brightness.
The customized high-end shock absorber comes from Gears Racing, and the overall shape of the bicycle is very clean. The shop admits that the body is all custom-painted and highlighted by LED pinstripes, which is a last-minute addition.
"We gave it what we call a diamond tail, which is also common in Ruckus, and it does clean up the back end," Dunn said. "Then we customized a carbon fiber seat from the original seat pan following the lines of the diamond-shaped tail."
Both MNNTHBX and Steady Garage will now provide customers with several components used in their Navi project. Vance & Hines also developed a tapered exhaust system for bicycles, and Honda Signature Accessories provides a series of aftermarket parts.
Mercedes-Benz Vision EQXX will also use impressive single-digit kWh consumption data per 100 kilometers at normal highway speeds.
